It's time to move on by Jared Carrabis
I don't know about you, but I plan on enjoying the 99th Opening Day at Fenway Park

I don't know about you, but I planned on enjoying Opening Day today regardless of the standings.

When it’s the seventh game of the season, I never really considered the possibility of Opening Day having a gloomy feeling to it, but that’s certainly the case here in 2011, but I’m not buying into it.

The Knights of the Keyboard can write their stories on how Red Sox fans have every right to boo this team after their 0-6 start, which is fine by me. I’m all about freedom of speech, but let me make one thing clear: The people who boo the Red Sox today, if there’s anyone at all, will likely never return to Fenway Park again this season. If they do, however, it will be as a guest, or the tickets will be a gift, because no Red Sox fan who puts their hard-earned dollars into purchasing Red Sox tickets does so to come to Fenway Park and boo the Red Sox on Opening freakin' Day.

It just doesn't happen, folks.

So thanks to my good friend Will Smith, I’ve forgotten all about the 0-6 start. It’s done. I’m over it. To me, the season starts today. How can a season be over if Fenway Park hasn’t even opened its gate yet? The answer to that question is that it’s not over, never was over, and it won’t be over until the Red Sox end it themselves…in October.

If you didn't already know, this is just my second Opening Day ever (last year was my first). But it will still be a special day to me, because it’s the first Opening Day that I’ve gotten to go to with my dad, and what’s even more special is that it’s his first Opening Day ever. Hard to believe; I know.

I’m not letting the atrocious start to the season ruin my day, and I hope it doesn’t ruin yours, either. Whether you’re going to Fenway Park today, or watching from home, please don’t have the attitude of someone that’s waiting for "the bad thing" to come. This stretch isn’t going to last, and once it’s over, this team isn't going to forget what it felt like when they lost six in a row, and they’ll do everything in their power to keep from returning to rock bottom, where they sit right now.

The climb to the top of the baseball world begins today. Welcome to the 99th Opening Day at Fenway Park.

No need to apologize, Will. These people need you to do your thang.
