You're Not Dreaming by Jared Carrabis
The Boston Red Sox Are World Champions Again

Don’t rub your eyes Red Sox Nation, you’re not dreaming. That really did just happen. What you have just seen was never dreamed to be a reality by any fan, player, coach or manager prior to 2004. Who would have ever thought that they would see not just one but TWO championships in their lifetime won by the Boston Red Sox. What you are witnessing is dream finally come true for Red Sox fans far and wide, what you are seeing is what once was an accomplishment that was never dreamed to become a reality. This championship put to bed all the talk about 2004 being a fluke and having to wait another 86 years for the next ring, try three years.

The 2007 Red Sox have captured the World Series Championship with a full team effort. This took more than 25 guys to raise the second banner in four seasons. It took veteran leadership, it took fantastic starting pitching, this took a relentless offense, it took a lights out bullpen and a tremendous amount of spark from the most talented rookies aro...READ MORE!

Ten Down, One To Go by Jared Carrabis
Sox On Threshold Of Second Title In Four Years

Twenty seven outs, nine innings, one game, just one game away from reclaiming the title of World Champions of the baseball world. The Red Sox are on the threshold of winning their second World Championship in four seasons, a sentence that never would have been dreamed of five years ago. A sentence that never would even dare to seep into the minds of Boston fans far and wide. Well, dare to dream folks because the boys from Boston are that close.

The Red Sox drew first blood once again against Colorado and never looked back. A six run top of the third featured a six run Boston attack that posed as a seemingly insurmountable lead for the Colorado offense to overcome against a cruising starting pitcher in Daisuke Matsuzaka and an unhittable bullpen lying in wait to be called upon to seal the deal.

The top of the Red Sox lineup wasted no time getting the ball rolling in the top of the third inning. The “Table Setters” of the Red Sox lineup got things done all night long and were t...READ MORE!

Heads Sox Win, Tails Rox Lose by Jared Carrabis
There’s No Stoppin’ The Sox

They’ve beaten them in a blow out and they’ve beaten them in a nail-biter. The Red Sox have beaten the Rockie’s “ace” and they have beaten their flame-throwing ace of the future. Ever hear the saying “pitching and defense wins championships”? Ask Josh Beckett, Curt Schilling and the Boston defense how they feel about that saying. Of course an offense that has averaged 7.5 runs a game this postseason going into Game 2 of the World Series certainly helped, but ever since Cleveland went up three games to one, Boston has beaten their opposition in every aspect of the game that you can be beaten in.

Enough of the excuses of the eight-day layoff hurt the Rockies, it’s time to give some credit where credit is due. Colorado’s impressive run of winning 21 of 22 games and 10 in a row are long gone after Boston has broken that streak and then some as the Colorado Rockies find themselves trailing the seemingly unbeatable Boston Red Sox two games to none.

Game Won, Three To Go by Jared Carrabis
Sox Take Game One Of The 2007 World Series

Game one is in the books and every little thing went Boston’s way in their historic win. Was it the rust? Was it the Red Sox momentum? Or what is Josh Beckett being Josh Beckett? Who cares, the Red Sox lead the Colorado Rockies one game to nothing in the 2007 World Series. Boston sports fans are in heaven right now, as it appears that Tom Brady and Josh Beckett are trying to outdo each other, but we’re not complaining now are we?

The Boston bats put an all out whooping on Colorado early and often. How bad of a whooping? The Red Sox scored the most runs they have ever scored in a World Series game. Their Game one 13-1 victory was the largest margin of victory in a Game one of any World Series (and there have been 103, but who’s counting) and their nine extra-base hits tied a World Series record.

To those that said the eight days of no baseball that the Rockies endured would only benefit Colorado, I’m curious as to what inning you shut the game off. The first four Rockies to ...READ MORE!

We Go To Tomorrow! by Jared Carrabis
Number Seven Creates Game Seven

So we meet again. It’s that old familiar feeling of apprehension, anxiety, sweaty palms and no voice by the bottom of the first. It’s been a while old friend, especially after being swept in the ALDS in ’05 and hitting the golf course a bit early in ’06, here we are again. It’s Game 7 baby and boy have we missed you. We may have a bittersweet past (’46, ’67, ’75, ’86, ’03) but we’ve recently been starting to turn a new page in this relationship (2004), and we sure are looking to build on this wonderful friendship. Although you give us the most uncomfortable and unsettling of feelings that the human body can experience, you have the power to deliver the most amazing feeling of exhilaration that most anyone could ever feel.

All the karma going into Game 6 seemed to be in Boston’s favor. Cleveland’s Ryan Garko seemingly hung a jinx over the Tribe by saying “The champagne tastes just as good on the road as it does at home.” The entire Boston locker room was mounted with this quote al...READ MORE!

Shipping Back To Boston by Jared Carrabis
Beckett, Red Sox Send ALCS Back To Fenway

Game 5 of the 2007 American League Championship Series could very well mark the turning point for the down but not out Boston Red Sox. The focus going into Thursday night’s game was more than just to win because winning meant a lot more than that. The primary focus of Game 5 was to get this series back to Fenway Park. Josh Beckett single handedly bought 25 plane tickets back to Boston for this series to continue Saturday night. The efforts of the enthusiastic right-handed flamethrower are keeping Red Sox World Series dreams alive throughout all of Red Sox Nation.

Beckett picked up his third win of the postseason in as many tries in Game 5 by absolutely mowing down the Cleveland Indians up and down their lineup. The fired up crowd of 44,588 were waving their towels and anticipating Josh Beckett to be due for a rough outing because he can’t be that amazing, can he? Beckett silenced the Jake in eight masterful innings of work in which he tied a career high for postseason strikeouts ...READ MORE!

Down But Not Out by Jared Carrabis
Sox Ready To Start ALCS Comeback Part II

This is it, this is where we separate the diehards from the bandwagon fans. Many of you when you saw the final score go up got a sickening feeling in your stomach that the October Magic has run dry and that you beloved Boston Red Sox have failed you. I would just like to remind you that this series is a best of seven, not five. Each team has to win four games before the other does. Little did some of you out there know, that is doesn’t matter what order you win your games in, all that matters is that you win four games before they do. That’s ALL that matters.

Don’t count these guys out, all of the past three losses are very winnable games. The Cleveland Indians are not beating the Red Sox, the Red Sox are beating themselves. Eliminate that atrocious bottom of the fifth inning and the Red Sox have themselves a tie series. It is truly a game of inches when Tim Wakefield sticks his glove out and deflects a ball that was lined up to be a perfect inning ending double play and instead ...READ MORE!

The Blame Game by Jared Carrabis
Thanks A Lot, Trot

And so the blame game begins. A game that was in the Red Sox hands and so close to being won has been torn from us and stolen by the Cleveland Indians. But who is to blame? Is it Francona for making the mistake of putting in Eric Gagne in a tie game situation? Or is it Eric Gagne’s fault for getting things going for Cleveland by putting two on with one out? The blame could always go to Javier Lopez for giving up three runs on two hits without managing to get a single out. The blame could even be on Curt Schilling for giving up a pivotal 3-run home run to Jhonny Peralta. You sure can’t put the blame on Jon Lester for giving up two more runs and putting the game even further out of reach, giving up runs just seemed like the thing to do at the time so you definitely can’t blame him.

This was just plain abysmal, there was no excuse for what happened Saturday night at Fenway Park. Personally, I don’t care whose fault it was. For all I care you can credit it as an all out bullpen meltd...READ MORE!

Beckett's Better by Jared Carrabis
Cy Young Runner-Up To Be Was No Match For Surging Sox

99% of the expectations for Game 1 of the 2007 American League Championship Series, that featured what very well could be the top two candidates for the 2007 Cy Young Award, had “pitcher’s duel” written all over it. The greatest pitching stars of all time have shined brightest while performing on the stage that is October. However, it seems that the power surge that was the Boston offense blew out the would-be shining light in Cleveland left-hander C.C. Sabathia

Sabathia carried a 19-7 record with a 3.21 ERA during the regular season into his first postseason start at Fenway Park. However, his stellar 2007 season did not intimidate the Red Sox bats in the least bit. Boston tagged the ace of the Indians staff for eight earned runs over four and a third innings. Sabathia made his early exit not before giving up seven hits to the relentless Boston offense.

Although the big lefty for Cleveland had five walks, give the Red Sox some credit for the high walk total. The Red Sox hit...READ MORE!

They Never Knew What Hit 'Em by Jared Carrabis
Sox Sweep Halos, Move On To American League Championship Series

Seems like just yesterday Josh Beckett was dazzling the Angels with his blazing fastball and devastating breaking ball in a 9-inning shutout. This series was as short as physically possible and this sweep was no fluke. With the crack of a few Dominican born bats, everyone (including Angel’s fans) knew this thing was over.

What started out perfectly for Boston with Josh Beckett saving our bullpen by pitching a masterful complete game shutout to open this best of five series gave Boston fans the optimism that this team deserved to have looked upon them in October. The optimism only intensified after Manny Ramirez obliterated a fastball offering by Francisco Rodriguez high over the Green Monster and deep into the dark October sky.

At this point, with the talent that Boston has demonstrated on their home field by their pitching and offense, Angel’s fans were considering the option of forfeiting the series if that opportunity was available to them. Unfortunately for them, there ...READ MORE!

Manny Being Papi by Jared Carrabis
Manny's Walk-Off Job Puts Sox A Game Away From ALCS

What a nightmare for Francisco Rodriguez, you can either face David Ortiz with the winning run in scoring position, you can face Manny Ramirez with two on and one out, or you can face the Red Sox regular season RBI leader with the bases loaded. Well, Mike Scioscia elected to put Mr. October on and face one of the most fearsome right-handed hitters to ever wear a Red Sox uniform.

If you keep putting Ortiz on base to get to Manny, sooner or later he’s going to make you regret your decision. He’s no David Ortiz in a clutch situation, but come on now, he’s Manny Ramirez and that should be enough to send shivers down any reliever’s spine.

The decision to put Ortiz on to get to Ramirez was based on clutch reputation and respect alone. This decision was not made in order to get past a great hitter to get to a mediocre hitter. They knew they were walking a great hitter to get to a great hitter. Manny may not have the reputation of late inning heroics like David Ortiz does, but if y...READ MORE!

Define: Dominance - Game 1 2007 ALDS by Jared Carrabis
Vintage Beckett Takes Sox First Step Towards World Series Title

That's how it's done ladies and gentlemen. Complete games are near extinction in baseball these days, Beckett himself has only pitched four complete games in his career during the regular season. With this being said, what David Ortiz is offensively in October, Josh Beckett is on the mound in October. Beckett turned in his third career complete game in postseason play by blanking the Halo's over nine innings striking out eight.

Josh Beckett's performance tonight set the tone for the remainder of the postseason. Getting that first win of eleven on your way to a World Series title is the most important, and to get that first win in dominating fashion sends a message to your opponent and to the other teams that are in postseason play. Josh Beckett showed why he has been in Cy Young talks all season long by baffling the Angels hitters all over their line up. The first batter of the game reached and what followed was pure dominance as Beckett retired every batter he faced up until the...READ MORE!
